There are many types of autism. It ranges in severity from mildly limiting to very debilitating. The child doesn’t need to demonstrate all symptoms – but one or more of the symptoms below may be possible indicators of Autism Spectrum Disorder:

How Can We Help?
Autism Assessment & Treatment
All autism assessments for diagnosis at Compass Clinic follow the BCAAN Standards and are able to access Provincial Autism Funding. Early intervention is important and Compass Clinic can give you early access to funding, saving the wait time of the public system. Assessment of a child under the age of 6 years requires a multidisciplinary assessment team. It involves a pediatrician, an IQ/developmental test completed by a psychologist, a speech assessment, and a clinical diagnostic assessment (CDA) that includes administration of the ADOS-2 and the ADI-R. The CDA can be completed by any pediatrician, psychiatrist or psychologist trained in the aforementioned tests. At Compass Clinic, we offer the choice of assessment via a pediatrician or a psychologist. We also have a speech therapist who can do the SLP portion of this assessment. Diagnosis for a child who is age 6 or older only requires the CDA portion of the assessment.
